This was one of the questions asked by one of my members over at the home of bodyweight training and it was such a good question that I thought it deserved mentioning here.
I’ve already written previously why I don’t like The Biggest Loser but I’ll elaborate more here for the benefit of those who may think this show is actually a good example for people wanting to lose weight.
Unfortunately this show is not a feel good show experience like they try and make it out. It’s a way for them to flog crappy supplements and diet shakes and to give people sitting at home a chance to not feel as bad about themselves “because at least i’m not as bad as so and so on the biggest loser”.
This is what really happens in this show:
* locked in a controlled environment for 12 weeks – no family stress, no work stress, no anything that normally happens in day to day life for regular everyday busy people like you and me.
* a couple of hours of exercise each day
* a very low calorie diet that is going to be the complete opposite from what they have come from – eating whatever they want whenever they want it.

If you want to see what The Biggest Loser did to the winner of the Aussie show a few years ago READ THIS article from Woman’s Day. It ain’t pretty. But be warned if you are in the UK reading this. I believe that the Aussie version of The Biggest Loser is being screened there at the moment so don’t check it out if you don’t want to know who wins!
The pictures after he won show saggy man cans, loose skin everywhere and even after surgery his chest looks like it’s been transplanted from an alien.
Is that how you really want to look?
I didn’t think so.
Lose the weight smart and your body will thank you for it.
