Those of you who know me well will know that I don’t mind a punt.
So when I read this analogy just this morning I knew it was perfect for the latest Munday’s Motivation update.
The book I’m reading is Andre Agassi’s Open. I’m about half way through and I’m hooked. It’s a really honest insight into the mind of a tennis champion – warts and all.
The quote that struck a cord with me today was when Andre met his coach Brad Gilbert for the first time and Brad was picking apart Andre’s game.
“It’s all about odds and percentages… The house always wins, right? Why? Because the odds are stacked in the house’s favour. So? Be the house! Get the odds in your favour”.
Now you might be scratching your head thinking what on earth has this got to do with my weight loss success or keeping on track with your healthy meals.
But let me tell you, it has everything to do with it.
You have to be the house. Think like the house. Get the odds for your goal achievement in your favour.
That means you have to think like a winner.
It means you need the motivation to get out of bed every morning certain in knowing that the steps you are putting in place are the right ones to ensure your success.
It means that you are always going to be on track and that you’re always going to be ahead.
Sure, you might cop a couple of losses on the way like if you slip and go out on a binge on the weekend. It’s just like when a punter strikes it big, the casino takes a little hit. But in the long run, the house always wins and so will you providing you get back on the horse and ride it into the sunset.
What do you think of that little analogy? On the money (pardon the pun)?
