I was going to share with you a totally different Munday’s Motivation today but this one follows directly on from last weeks post about complainers.
I’ve just finished reading an amazing story of moving on and inspiration on NineMSN today. Follow the link and check it out for yourself.
In a nutshell, a TV host in the UK had acid thrown in her face by a nutcase of an ex-boyfriend which completely disfigured her face – a pretty serious situation for anybody, let alone someone who made their career off their good looks and was a TV presenter and model.
Now, the woman in question, Katie Piper, could easily have turned it up and gone for the victim approach of “life’s so unfair” and “why me” – something that we all have probably muttered at some time or another.
I know that in the past I have been guilty of that.
But this is Katie’s reaction:
“I’m never going to be the old Katie. … She’s gone and there’s a different one in her place. I’m not going to be a victim. I’m a woman who got through this. I am full of life and looking forward to the future.”
How refreshing is that?
This lady is amazing. Instead of the why me attitude she’s determined to look forward – rather than look back and rue her misfortune.
I know I am inspired by that and hopefully you are too.
If someone who has a big knock like getting their face totally remodelled by some lunatic throwing acid then why can’t we achieve anything that we want to achieve?
I’ve drawn inspiration out of Katie Piper and I hope that you can too.
Next time that you get down, and it will happen at some time or another – and that’s totally cool – I want you to think about Katie’s example and be inspired that if someone who has had to totally change her life plan can go forward and prosper than maybe we can too.
What do you think? Inspiration or not? I’d love to hear your thoughts about Katie below.
