If you missed my post last week on The Biggest Loser, you missed a great comment left by Dan Grant, a Canadian trainer and fellow fat loss expert who is doing some pretty good things in his own right.
With Dan’s permission (cheers mate) I’m able to share this with you all today.
It deals with motivation and the basically a key to achieving weight loss success – or success in any field for that matter.
It all comes down to that same thing and Dan shares it with you today
“Spectacular achievement precedes only unspectacular preparation.
Real, long term success is FULL of unspectacular preparation. The day in and day out battle to exercise, keep your nutrition right, stay positive, etc…
It’s the opposite of the Biggest Loser. If you want a trainer you’re paying for one. If you want to eat right, it’s literally up to you to get it done and make it happen. There’s not people around you 24/7 doing the same thing you’re doing.
Some people aren’t going to support you. Some people will try and shove some dessert down your throat. Some people just aren’t going to care that you hit a bump. Some people are going to keep naggin’ you to come out for drinks and stop being a ‘loser’.
Saying no, and staying true to your goals is extremely tough and sometimes very lonely.
But when you reach your long term goal and know you can keep it off then that’s a REAL spectacular achievement. One that you can be truly proud of for the rest of your life”
How many times do you have to say NO to somebody or something that is affecting your weight loss workouts and your weight loss success?
Too many times?
Truth be told, sometimes I should say no more. I know that I am not Robinson Crusoe there though.
What is the hardest thing that you find saying no too?
Let’s all be accountable to each other in the comments box below.
I’ll kick it off and say that it can be hard to say no to that extra slice of cake or pie especially if it’s really good. Yesterday I had a little extra than what I planned.
Sure it tasted good, but I know I compromised my weight loss success by indulging in more than my 4 allocated cheat meals for this week.
But today’s another day.
Yesterday ended last night.
We can all wipe the slate clean but we must want to do it.
Are you in this one?

I’m with you on the extra piece of pie, cake, or ice cream problem. I think that one of the keys is doing your best to control your environment. And then keeping your goals in mind when you are at a get together or something where it is no longer an environment you completely control.

To true – keeping the end in mind is always going to be the driving force behind success of any kind – weight loss, business or whatever. It definitely motivates me to get up everyday and keep crossing off the little things.
