Alright, I’m not talking about the Terminator movie series here when I’m talking about man vs machine but I’m keeping the theme of the week and talking about bodyweight training and how it absolutely dominates over machine exercises that you would find in your local gym.
If you are looking for weight loss workouts that work, you can do a lot worse than pick some killer bodyweight exercises.
Here’s 5 reasons why bodyweight training kicks butt over machine training.
1) First of all, when you are training with a machine your range of motion that you can work in is limited. That’s because the machine can only go along the lines of the cable that it runs upon. Compare that to any bodyweight exercise where you have to control the speed you work at and the depth that you go down.
2) When was the last time that you had to use a leg extension motion in day to day life? Probably never. Compare that to a squat. You do that every time you sit down at your desk or on the toilet, or on a lounge. I could go on but I think you get the point. 3) You have to line up to use a machine in a busy gym. You never have to line up to do some bodyweight exercises. Simply grab some space on the ground and start moving.
4) You can do bodyweight training when you are on holidays or travelling for work. Lugging your leg press machine or bench press rack around is a bit silly isn’t it? Can you imagine declaring that at customs on your next trip? With bodyweight training you don’t need to pack your suitcase with anything else apart from your training gear. If that isn’t even an option because it’s already jam packed train in your pyjamas!
5) The final reason for today why bodyweight training leaves machine exercises for dead is that you don’t have to sit on the sweat pool that someone has left behind! That is disgusting and plain unhygienic. There is always going to be some meathead in the gym that will sweat all over every machine in the place.
Now you don’t have to worry about him because you have a bodyweight training arsenal that is about to be unleashed on Friday.
I know I’m letting the cat out of the bag a little early, but I’m too excited to hold it in any longer. I’ll give you a little teaser of what you can expect.
