Linda Armstrong Kelly Book Review

Let’s backtrack a bit for a moment and imagine that you’re 17 again.

What were you doing?

Chances are if you were like me you were running around playing footy and hanging with your mates while sneaking around underage and enjoying a beer on a Friday night down at the local river.

Unless you were Linda Armstrong Kelly and had already become a mum.

I’m 31 and don’t know whether I’m ready to raise a kid yet – let alone thinking that if I had a kid at 17 I’d be raising a 14 year old!

Now the only reason that I wanted to read this book “No Mountain High Enough” is because she is Lance Armstrongs mum. I figured it’d be cool to learn about Lance as a young fella.

Turns out he was a bit of a little so and so. Well so others thought.

I guess his stubborness turned him into the champion he is today.

I mean, try and tell me that at age 37 after having a 3 year lay off from racing in arguably the world’s toughest sporting race and gaining a podium finish is no mean feat?

Anyway, back to Linda.

Linda Armstrong Kelly’s story is amazing in so many ways. From being a single mother and a victim of spousal abuse to turning her own life into a massive success it is no wonder why she was such a big inspiration for Lance.

I mean this is a girl who didn’t go to college and worked her way up from the bottom to becoming a very successful businesswoman – and go to woman – in the early days of the mobile phone boom with Ericsson.

This is a girl who doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit.

Much like Lance…

The only downside of this book is she admits in the start of the story that she changes the names of certain people in her life to protect the “not so innocent” so it really isn’t a warts n all biography.

What it is though is an awesome inspiration and motivation to anybody, not just a young woman, who thinks they have a tough life.

It shows you that no matter how humble your beginnings that greatness is possible.

This story just proves that anybody who thinks Lance Armstrong is on drugs is a goose. People who say that piss me off.

Just because one person doesn’t have the work ethic and never say die attitude of someone else they will throw around baseless accusations.

There is only one person who he got his work ethic from.

That woman is Linda Armstrong Kelly.

This book is a really good read and example of what can happen if you put your butt down and work for success.
