Importance of Sleep to Your Weight Loss Success

How many hours of sleep do you end up getting each night?

Chances are if you are like a lot of busy people who are hanging for that first cup of coffee to get your caffeine hit each morning so you don’t strangle someone, you are not getting enough sleep and you are definitely hindering your fat loss results potential.

The importance of sleep to your weight loss success is so understated that it is just not funny. Too many people say yeah I know and then move on rather than work out how they can address the problem.

If you fail to address it, then unfortunately, your belly fat (and any other area for that matter) will be sticking around a lot longer no matter if you eat healthy or not.

What happens if you don’t get at least the recommended minimum of 7 hours of sleep each night?

Well, your body does not have to time recover and repair itself for one.

Sleep time is when your body is actually making all the changes to ensure your scales, and more importantly, your measurements are coming down.

Your body releases chemicals when you sleep to ensure that the waste is removed from your body in simple terms.

Another important thing to note is that if you are a night owl, you are more likely to struggle to lose the belly fat.

I’ve seen research that shows your body goes into repair mode around 11:30pm each night so you need to be well off with the fairies by then to ensure you are getting the maximum rest possible to ensure your weight loss success.

The other big take home point that I’ll leave you with, and another proven fact, is that every hour of sleep you get before midnight can actually count as 2 hours!

So, let’s say you are under the covers and lights out by 10pm, that can actually count for 4 hours worth of sleep.

I know I swear by this. When that alarm clock (or opportunity clock as Zig Ziglar calls it!) goes off at 4:40am I know that if I am in bed early and lights out before 9:30pm the night before I feel great despite the early hour!

It’s a big change from my old night owl hours from my days as a bartender but so much more productive to ensuring my weight loss success in the past as I know it will yours!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how the amount of sleep and the time you go to bed has on you the next day.

Seriously, if you can nail this often forgotten weight loss tip, you are well on the way to getting the fat loss results and the body that you deserve.
