Crunch Free Abs Exercise: Advanced Bodyweight Training

This exercise has a silly name, well I’ve given it a silly name at least.

I’m sure and certain that this is not the official name of the exercise but after you see it, you will see why I’ve called it the Elephant Side Plank.

This movement is definitely not one of the easiest bodyweight exercises that you’ll ever see but you will no doubt agree that the Elephant Side Plank is a great crunch free abs exercise which works pretty much every muscle in your upper body – obliques, abs, lats, shoulders, arms.

If you like this exercise demonstration you will enjoy my FREE online community dedicated purely to bodyweight training and home exercise workouts.

You can also download your FREE 6 week bodyweight workout program that can be done in the comfort of your own home or in a hotel if you’re on the road.

Hmm, I was attracted to this tittle as women who have low bone density are recomended not to do forward bends such as crunches.
I wonder if this would be OK.
There is quite a twist but it’s at the waist & the spine stays straight in the plank.
What do you think? Too much weight on the arm?
Maybe not.

hey Rosie,
I’d recommend that nobody do crunches – whether they are women with low bone density of men who are built like footballers. They are bad for everyone’s back.

It should be fine – however if it hurts or feels wrong stop it and just do a normal side plank.
