I didn’t see much of 60 Minutes last night but I caught a little bit.
One story was of an inspirational young teenager who had his 2 hands and 1 foot cut off when he had a basketball ring collapse on him (along with the brick wall that it was attached to). If you missed it, the kids attitude to overcome his set back was amazing. He was lucky enough to have his hands reattached and can now function like a normal kid.
Lesson 1: No matter what your path in life, most people that have achieved anything of note have had to overcome adversity of some kind.
If you are doing it tough now, hang in there.
You’ll be bigger and better on the other side.
But the most important story, and finally we’ve seen some common sense seen on TV when it comes to making the smart choice to eat healthy and your focusing on your healthy eating plan without all the low fat, diet foods and other processed rubbish that is just asking your belly fat to stick around.
If you missed this story, you must check it out here. 60 Minutes interviewed a biochemist (first good point) rather than a nutritionist or dietician who pedals the same old rubbish that processed foods and cereals and breakfast bars should be part of your healthy eating plan.
She had a powerful point: “If your great, great, great grandmother didn’t eat it, you shouldn’t either”.
How refreshing to finally see a story like this on TV rather than rubbish like the Biggest Loser that just wants you to buy their diet shakes.
To achieve ultimate weight loss success you must be following these guidelines and not the rubbish that is pedalled as being healthy.
Low fat foods, diet foods, and most of the stuff you find in the supermarket isles are not food. Definitely not real food.
Eat foods as nature intended it and you will be well on the way to shedding the belly fat. Trust me on this one.
Lesson #2: Finally people are starting to support what I have been saying for a while now. Just another reason why you should be listening to me!
The Secret to a Healthy Eating Plan
Instead of my usual quotes of the week that I like to throw in, I’ve got a little something different.
This may be for you. It may not. There’s nothing to buy so don’t worry I’m not trying to flog you something.
I recently finished reading the book “Giving” by Bill Clinton. It was an interesting read about what people can do of all income levels to help others.
In it I came across a site that I checked out on Friday which I thought was really cool and different to the usual me-me thing where people just want your money.
That’s not to say I don’t believe in charity, I definitely do, but I pick and choose who I support.
You see, I hate handouts. Especially for people that don’t deserve them and just keep hanging around with their hand out saying “what about me”. This is different.
The organisation is called Kiva and basically you find an entrepreneur that you’d like to sponsor in a third world country and lend them $25USD.
You get to pick who it goes to and there are people from all different parts of the world and you get to help them realise their dream of becoming a farmer, buying a new cow or whatever they need to make their life and the life of their families better.
The best thing is they repay the loan. So you know they are not tyre kickers. You can choose to take your money back or re-invest it in someone else.
A pretty neat idea and you can find them here if you are interested.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this episode of 60 minutes below! Thanks for commenting

Hi there,
I like most of the stuff you write here, but as a nutritionist myself I have grown a little bit tired of you putting us down. Generalizing all the nutritionist to a same gategory is kind of annoying when there is lot of us out there who talk about exacly the the same issues as you do. Maybe it gives gredit for you. I don’t know. But I actually joined this group since I wanted to see if this is something I can advice my cliends to follow up if they want to get more info and updated routines. And most of the stuff has been helpfull for some of my clients too. That’s all I wanted to say. Have good day and keep on going.

Hi Anu,
thanks for your comments. I appreciate your thoughts and concerns and glad that you like most things on here. I guess my problem that I have is the nutritionists that tell people to eat low fat this and diet that while snacking on cereals. Like you said, it’s a generalisation and I have the same thing to say about personal trainers in general – once again another generalisation. But I can live with that. Most of them train like they got their license of the back of a cereal box. I hope you don’t take offense to stuff that I say and if you do agree with my thoughts on nutrition then you can take a stance against other ‘bad and ill-informed nutritionist’ like I do with bad trainers. I know that some people won’t like what I write and that’s cool. If it means that I bag people now and again so be it but bear in mind that I am not criticising people like you who have the same views – just the ones that have their heads in the sand. Thanks for reading!
