<p>There was a <a href="http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/lifestyle/support-grows-for-fast-dieting/story-e6frf00i-1225892386032">media report</a> over the last week about a so-called &#8216;controversial&#8217; study that said fast dieting was better for your overall weight loss success than doing it the old slow and steady method.</p>
<p>And, as you can imagine, I&#8217;ve got my 2 cents on the report.</p>
<p>So take a deep breath and check out what I think.</p>
<p>* The so-called fast results were 1.5kg a week weight loss which isn&#8217;t exactly earth shattering. Fast weight loss is like what you see on those garbage TV shows where people lose 10-15 kgs a week.</p>
<p>* The study was done by a dietician. If you&#8217;ve read any of my <a href="http://www.danielmunday.com/category/rants-and-warnings/">rants</a> on here you&#8217;ll know that I don&#8217;t have much time for dieticians and nutritionists who rely too much on old information without looking at methods that don&#8217;t fit in with their square box thinking. My thinking is definitely different to the usual sheep so don&#8217;t expect me to praise any of their so-called ground breaking findings.</p>

<p>* The report didn&#8217;t mention whether the subjects in each group were of the same weight range when they started. People who are bigger are obviously going to lose more weight than someone who only needs to shed a few kgs in comparison &#8211; and they&#8217;re going to find it easier than that person with only a few to lose really has to focus on their healthy eating plan more-so rather than just making a few changes to start progressing.</p>
<p>* These backward thinking people are only talking about weight loss success rather than measurements. The sooner people get this through their skulls that you should be focusing on the measurements and how your clothes fit the better position we&#8217;ll all be in.</p>
<p>Too many people who train get depressed when they jump on the scales each week, or even worse each day, only to find that they haven&#8217;t budged. What they&#8217;ve failed to do is measure their waist and how their clothes fit. This is the real indicator.</p>
<p>So, as I always say, the real thing that people should be focusing on is smart dieting &#8211; whether that&#8217;s fast or slow results as by product is up to the individual. People are going to experience results at a different rate.</p>

<p>So long as you&#8217;re following a plan that encourages you to eat healthy, are really monitoring your <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K7pPlVKtiE">cheat meals</a> and joining in workouts like my <a href="http://www.dpmperformance.com.au">Sydney Boot Camp</a> sessions that promote smart training philosophies then you are going to get results.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s all there is to it.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a list of 10 rules &#8211; or commandments &#8211; that yuo must follow if you every want to get to the bottom of your own personal fat loss mystery. i.e. what do I have to do to finally achieve those fat loss results I&#8217;ve been wanting for all of these years.</p>
<p># 1 – Thou shall not follow the old rules of fat loss. There is a new world order for fat loss and it’s time is now.</p>
<p># 2 – Thou shall surround themselves with positive people who will not drag down their mission to succeed.</p>
<p># 3 – Thou shall not listen to outdated personal trainers, nutritionists and dieticians who follow the old world order for healthy eating. These rules are outdated and it’s time has passed.</p>
<p># 4 – Thou shall get at least 7 hours of sleep each night, ideally more. This is when your body is making the real changes that you want to see. Compromise is not an option.</p>

<p># 8 – Thou shall follow my <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHCXMAjwj6s">Eat Clean, Stay Lean theory</a>. Luckily fat loss doesn’t have to be rocket science when you get this commandment.</p>
<p># 9 – Thou shall realise that there is no such thing as a quick fix. Once you realise that <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siGvWDeTv3I">scam diets</a> where you have to drink some magic potion and miracle infomercial abs products are a total waste of your money and time. They insult your intelligence and make you even fatter than the scam companies wallets. </p>
<p># 10 – Thou shall realise that no matter how hard you train, you cannot out-train a bad diet. Once this message sinks in you can experience results that you never thought possible.</p>

<p>The transformation contest that I ran last year was such a great success (you can see the transformations that people made <a href="http://www.bodyweightblitz.com">here</a>) that I have decided to ramp the 2010 edition up a few notches. Well, quite a bit to be honest.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve organised some sponsors to come on board for this years edition &#8211; <a href="http://www.themassagetherapist.com.au/">The Massage Therapist</a>, <a href="http://www.hairsalon.com.au/edge-studio/">Edge Studio</a> Hair Salon, <a href="http://jkeillor.financialwisdom.com.au/home.jsp?ident=HOME">Financial Fitness Planner James Keillor</a> and <a href="http://www.therunningcompany.com.au">The Running Company Bondi Beach</a> who have combined with myself to provide over $2000 in prizes not only to the winners but also to every single person that enters the contest. </p>
<p>The transformation contest kicks off this Monday &#8211; June 7, 2010 and runs for 10 weeks finishing on Monday 16 August.</p>

<p>Some people train to lose a bit of extra belly fat while some people train to have more energy or to work off some stress.</p>
<p>Some people just want to look good naked and that&#8217;s the great pay off of an active lifestyle &#8211; you will look better naked.</p>
<p>So this little checklist which will include <a href="http://www.danielmunday.com/category/weight-loss-tips/">weight loss tips</a>, <a href="http://www.danielmunday.com/category/healthy-eating-tips/">healthy eating tips</a> and some tips for your lifestyle in general, is something for you to bookmark in your browser, print off or whatever you need to remind you what boxes you need to cross off so you can feel confident in your body and as a result &#8211; look great naked.<br />
<strong><br />
# 1) Look At Yourself In A Better Light:</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s human nature that we&#8217;re always our own worst critic and that always rings true with the way that people talk to themselves. </p>
<p>First of all before you work on any of the other tips I&#8217;m going to share with you, it is essential that you start to look at yourself in a better light. </p>
<p>Think positive thoughts and focus on your good points when you are standing starkers in front of a mirror. This will get you in the right frame of mind to work on the areas that need working on.</p>
<p>The mind is a powerful tool. Unless you conquer this area you will still look down on yourself no matter how great you look to everyone else.</p>

# 2) Ditch The Pretty Weights:</strong></p>
<p>Lifting light when you&#8217;re training is a massive mistake. There&#8217;s absolutely no point in doing a pump class for an hour if you want to look great naked &#8211; especially if you don&#8217;t already have the body that you want.</p>
<p>You need to push a decent amount of iron (or even your own bodyweight with a challenging exercise) to see results. Unfortunately the pretty little weights in the corner of the gym aren&#8217;t going to cut it.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t bang your head against a brick wall by continuously following this old approach. It doesn&#8217;t work. Why do you think you see the same people at the gym classes looking exactly the same as they did 12 months ago? Because it doesn&#8217;t work!</p>
<p>Try a <a href="http://www.aussiefatblast.com">gym workout routine</a> that has a good mix of supersets or circuits followed up with some short n sweet intervals. That&#8217;s your roadmap to success.</p>

<p>Sleep is often the forgotten factor to a better body. Most people will say &#8220;I don&#8217;t have time to sleep&#8221; and look for some other way to look better naked. Big mistake. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re doing this you&#8217;re body will say back to you &#8220;I don&#8217;t have time to burn fat&#8221; because that&#8217;s when your body is going to work to give you that better body &#8211; when you&#8217;re sleeping.</p>

# 4) Processed Food Just Won&#8217;t Cut It:</strong></p>
<p>This may sound like a broken down record if you&#8217;re a regular reader here but guess what &#8211; processed foods are not going to get you looking great naked. No matter what some television commercial or Heart Foundation tick will tell you. </p>
<p>The only way to shed those ugly layers of belly fat is to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHCXMAjwj6s">eat clean to stay lean</a>.</p>
<p>That means fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, nuts, seeds, eggs. Not processed stuff like low fat frozen dinners or breakfast cereals with extra fibre.</p>
<p>If your grandma didn&#8217;t eat it back in her day than you shouldn&#8217;t eat it either.</p>

# 5) Don&#8217;t Over Eat:</strong></p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter how healthy a food is for you &#8211; if you eat too much of it your body can only do one thing with the left over &#8211; store it as fat.</p>
<p>So you need to be smart with your portion sizes. This is where a lot of people will fall down. They will cross of every other box there is but overdo the eating amount.</p>
<p>Remember you are eating to look great naked &#8211; to see some fat loss results &#8211; not to run a marathon. So your eating habits need to be different from someone is who is training for a marathon.</p>
<p>A good rule of thumb to follow is to eat three quarters of what you are eating now at each meal.</p>
<p>This will drastically cut down the amount of food you eat &#8211; especially if you are prone to overeating.</p>
<p>The other tip is to wait 15 minutes after you finish your now smaller meal to see if you are really hungry. That way your brain has enough time to receive a message from your stomach that you are indeed still hungry and it&#8217;s not your stomach playing tricks on you.</p>

<p><strong># 6) Throw Away Your Scales:</strong></p>
<p>Too many people obsess over the numbers on the scales. This is a big mistake. Just ask yourself this question: Would you be happy to stay the weight that you are now and still drop a dress size? Most people would answer yes. </p>
<p>This question would not apply to people who really need to drop a lot of kgs obviously but for those who just need to shape up this would be a pretty good scenario. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t get caught up in this bad obsession with the numbers on the scales. It can fluctuate so much within the space of just one day depending on what you eat, your bowel movements and so on.</p>
<p>Focus on your measurements and enjoy them going down!</p>

<p><strong># 7) Drink, Drink and Drink Again:</strong></p>
<p>No, I&#8217;m not talking about alcohol and soft drinks here. I&#8217;m talking about water of course. Most people don&#8217;t drink anywhere near what they should be drinking each day.</p>
<p>For an average person who is active you should be drinking at least 2 litres of water a day as a basic rule. Take a water bottle around with you, keep it on your desk, with you when you train, in your car when you&#8217;re driving. Make it easily accessible.</p>
<p>A great tip to help you drink more throughout the day is to have a glass of water before you eat your meal and after you finish your meal. Doing this just at breakfast, lunch and dinner means you&#8217;ll have at least 6 glasses of water a day. More than what some people are drinking which is scary.</p>

<p>The Saturday before last I had the pleasure to catch up with one of my fitness mates who was in town from Hobart for the Fitness Expo.</p>
<p>His name is <a href="http://www.jameskerrison.com">James Kerrison</a> and you might have seen me link to his stuff on here before because it&#8217;s top quality info and I always like to surround myself with fellow fat loss experts to bounce things off.</p>
<p>James and I caught up for a coffee and a bit of a brain storm which was great as I always love picking the brains of people who are leading the way in the fat loss game.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ll start off.</p>
<p>My best weight loss tips are to make sure you combine some <a href="http://www.aussiefatblast.com">interval training routines</a> with a proper strength workout and ensure that you <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHCXMAjwj6s">eat clean to stay lean</a>.</p>
<p>Combine those and you&#8217;ll get success.</p>
<p>Of course, there are many other great tips that will get you awesome results but those are the 2 staples.</p>
