<p>So instead of writing that workout off, packing up and going home here&#8217;s some bodyweight exercises that you can implement into your gym workout routine from <a href="http://dpmperform.turbulence.hop.clickbank.net/?page=tt_deluxe">Turbulence Training&#8217;s Craig Ballantyne</a>.</p>

<p>Well, here are 27 alternative bodyweight exercises for you.</p>
<p><strong>Situation #1 &#8211; You can&#8217;t do dumbbell chest presses because all the benches are taken, so you can do&#8230;</strong></p>
<p>1) pushups<br />
2) close-grip pushups<br />
3) decline pushup<br />
4) elevated pushups<br />
5) off-set pushups<br />
6) pushups with your feet on the fitball<br />
7) pushups with your hands on the fitball<br />

12) high-rep Bulgarian split squats for advanced<br />
13) high-rep split squats with your front foot elevated 4-6 inches<br />
14) 1-leg deadlifts<br />
15) 1-leg squats onto bench<br />
16) 1-leg squats standing on the bench<br />
17) deepstep-ups<br />
18) reaching lunges</p>
<p><strong>Situation #3 &#8211; You&#8217;re at the gym on a busy Monday night and your superset calls for dumbbell rows and stability ball leg curls, but all of the dumbbells are taken. What alternatives can you do using a pullup bar or smith machine?</strong></p>
<p>Using the smith machine, you can do&#8230;<br />
19) inverted rows<br />
20) underhand inverted rows<br />
21) inverted rows with your feet on the ball<br />
22) inverted rows holding the ends of a towel hung over the bar (advanced grip strength there!)</p>
<p>Using the pullup bar, you can do&#8230;<br />
23) eccentric pull-ups<br />
24) regular pull-ups<br />
25) sternum pull-ups<br />
26) chinups<br />
27) side to side pull-ups</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s do a random survey here. If I held a gun to your head and asked you for the best abs exercise to burn belly fat or die &#8211; what would it be?</p>
<p>I&#8217;m thinking some of you may say crunches (hopefully except my long term readers!), some may say any of the hover variations that I love to use and I think there would be quite a few more answers.</p>
<p>The one thing that I can definitely tell you is that crunches are not the best exercise for your abs and to be honest, it&#8217;s right up there with the worst abs exercises ever conceived.</p>
<p>Bad for your back, no recruiting other muscle groups, and I could go on and on. In fact that&#8217;s a whole new blog post for another day.</p>
<p>The answer that I&#8217;m about to give you might surprise you though and I&#8217;m actually going to give you 2 exercises so you&#8217;ll never be left short.</p>
<p>Answer one will be <a href="http://www.bodyweightblitz.com">the best home exercise workout</a> &#8211; you know, one that doesn&#8217;t use anything but your own bodyweight.</p>
<p>The second is for your <a href="http://www.aussiefatblast.com">gym workout routine</a> where you&#8217;ve got access to some weights.</p>
<p>For me, the best abs exercise using your own bodyweight is a decline push up.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s the difference between a decline push up and a normal push up? Well, your feet are elevated higher than your head and that&#8217;s it. The difference to every muscle working though is through the roof!</p>
<p>You will find that your chest, shoulders, triceps and even your upper back muscles all get a fantastic workout and of course those good old abs. They will feel it for days. </p>

<p>Moving on now to the best abs exercise for when you have access to some weights and I&#8217;m talking about a Front Squat.</p>
<p>I like the Front Squat because it&#8217;s better for your back and you can even  make the exercise even more effective and hold a weight like a kettlebell or dumbbell in one hand only, meaning you are lopsided.</p>
<p>The difference between a traditional squat and a front squat is the front squat requires you to hold a dumbbell in front of your chest with the weight resting near your shoulders and with your palms facing away from you.</p>
<p>The muscles you work in the front squat are all the muscles in your legs, especially your butt, and also your arms, shoulders and of course your abs getting a really effective workout.</p>
<p>The picture below shows a 1 Arm Front Squat. The way I&#8217;m holding it in the photo gives your chest and front part of the shoulder an extra workout but only do this if you are an advanced trainer. </p>
<p>For beginners tuck your elbow in near your body.</p>

<p>2) The most important reason I&#8217;m showing you this is to show that real athletes train the exact same way that you and I should when we train in the gym.</p>
<p><strong>That means no powderpuff exercises. It means full body movements. It means multi joint exercises. It means favouring free weights.<br />
</strong><br />
Note we don&#8217;t see Lance using a chets press machine or leg extension machine. You can&#8217;t even see that stuff in his gym.</p>
<p>Also be sure to check out the background of the video clip. Lance has kettlebells and other varying apparatus that are perfect for using in your gym workout routine.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m about to head on down for a boxing workout cause my usual training partner is out of action today.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve decided to go and pound the bag instead.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t get to do this as much as I&#8217;d normally like cause it&#8217;s so much fun and really, one of the best weight loss workouts out there.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s my 3 reasons why this is a great workout!</p>
<p><strong>1) You Get To Work Out Any Frustrations</strong></p>
<p>I lost my iPod yesterday (with the tunes for our wedding on there) so that&#8217;s as a reason as any! No seriously, I&#8217;m over that now but really if you&#8217;ve had a bad day or an arguement with someone this is a great way.</p>
<p><strong>2) Your Heart Rate Goes Through The Roof</strong><br />
Boxing is without a doubt one of the best interval training routines possible that sends your heart rate sky high each and every time. </p>
<p>You go to town for a round or a track length of a song and then have a short rest &#8211; the perfect interval training protocol</p>
<p><strong>3) It Works Every Muscle In Your Body </strong><br />
I know that when I box &#8211; my lats (back muscles) are absolutely killing me the next day and that&#8217;s just the start.</p>
<p>Your abs hurt, your chest hurts, you can barely lift your arms above your head (lucky I don&#8217;t have much hair!) and your legs get a workout too if you are punching with correct technique &#8211; it should be a whole body movement unlike the people you see just throwing handbags and using only their arms.</p>
<p>Okay, the clocks ticking, I&#8217;m outta here and it&#8217;s time to get the gloves on!</p>

<p>I did this killer <a href="http://www.aussiefatblast.com">gym workout routine</a> yesterday and I can honestly say that just moving today hurts!</p>
<p>You can do this in the gym if you have access to chin up bars but I did it at the local playground as it&#8217;s all bodyweight exercises (all 2 of them) &#8211; and let me tell you it&#8217;s not for the faint hearted!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOnTD_wtyEA">Dynamic Bodyweight Warm up </a>- 3 mins </p>
<p>Then set your stopwatch</p>
<p>1) As many chin ups as you can do in 10 minutes </p>
<p>Yep, you read that right. Start the clock and knock out as many chin ups as you can do.</p>
<p>I like to break them down into sets of 10 &#8211; mind you the form is not as good come the back end of the 10 mins but I&#8217;ll pay half chin ups at that stage!</p>
<p>So if you max out on the regular chin ups &#8211; go to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gmbq6c73S6M">cheat chin ups</a> or recline rows &#8211; whatever you have to do to finish the 10 minutes.</p>
<p>After that 10 mins alone I was smashed but knew the job was only half done. </p>
<p>You can call it a day but try and go for the next round too.</p>
<p>I actually needed about 5 mins rest to recover from the chin ups to be brutally honest!</p>
<p>Then knocked out 10 minutes of push ups.</p>

<p>Same deal, break it into sets of 10 and if you have to go to your knees towards the end.</p>
<p>What do you reckon &#8211; you up for it or not?</p>
<p>Let me know how many sets of 10 you got of each.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re keeping count &#8211; I got 10 rounds of the chin ups in and 17 rounds of the push ups.</p>
